Boiled Spiced Blue Crabs
This blue crab recipe call for boiling crabs in a marinade. The spices are boiled first, then blue crabs are added and boiled until ready for serving.
Ingredients
- 24 live, hard shell blue crabs
- 1 quart vinegar
- 1/2 cup salt
- 3 tablespoons cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup celery salt
- 1/4 cup powdered mustard
- 1/4 cup cloves
- 2 tablespoons mace
- 2 tablespoons ginger
- 6 quarts boiling water
Instructions
- Add seasonings to the boiling water.
- Cover and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Add crabs, cover and return to boiling point.
- Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Drain.
- Serve hot or cold.
